This hiking experience takes you to the summit of Mount Omuro—a landmark of the Izu Highlands—where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view as you walk around the crater rim.
The journey to the summit is a roughly 6-minute aerial ride on a two-person mountain lift. During the “Crater Rim Walk”—a 25- to 30-minute stroll along the trail that follows the crater’s edge—
you’ll enjoy an extraordinary view that takes in both the sea and mountains of Izu at once.

[Access (How to Get There)]
・From “Izu-Kogen Station” on the Izu Kyuko Line, take the Tokai Bus bound for “Shaboten Park/Mt. Omuro” for about 20 minutes.
Get off at the final stop, “Shaboten Park” bus stop; the venue is right there.
・From JR “Ito Station,” take the Tokai Bus bound for “Shaboten Park/Mt. Omuro” for about 35–40 minutes.
・By car from the Tokyo area: Take the Tomei Expressway → Odawara-Atsugi Road → National Route 135; approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
[Tour Itinerary (approx. 90 minutes)]
1. Ride the chairlift (approx. 6 minutes)
• Purchase a round-trip ticket at the ticket window next to the large torii gate at the base, then take the two-person chairlift to the summit.
• Enjoy a scenic aerial ride with views of Sagami Bay and the townscape of Izu Kogen along the way.
2. Arrival at the Summit & Viewpoint Tour (approx. 10 minutes)
• At the summit observation spot, a guide will point out the directions of Mount Fuji, the Izu Seven Islands, the Amagi Mountain Range, and other landmarks.
• On clear days, take photos of the scenery stretching all the way to the horizon.
3. Crater Rim Walk (Hike around the crater: approx. 25–30 minutes)
• Walk clockwise or counterclockwise along the crater rim trail (approx. 1 km).
• Take breaks at benches and viewing areas along the way to observe the caldera terrain and lava landscapes.
• Take photos at a spot overlooking the vast crater, which has also served as the setting for an anime.
4. Summit Stroll & Free Time (approx. 15–20 minutes)
• Enjoy the seasonal scenery (cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, autumn foliage, and greenery after the mountain burning) from the terraces and photo spots.
• Visit the snack stands at the summit for local specialties like “Omuroyama Yaki Dango” (operating days vary by season).
5. Descend by lift (approx. 6 minutes)
• Enjoy another aerial stroll on the downhill lift while gazing at the townscape of Izu Kogen on your way down to the base.

・Although the walking trail around the crater has few ups and downs, the ground consists of sand and small stones, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
・The sun is strong in the summer, and there is little shade at the summit, so be sure to bring a hat and drinking water.
